Medical Informatics Europe 2025 in Glasgow

Luisa Mejia and Professor Björn Schreiweis attended the Medical Informatics Europe conference in Glasgow, where Ms. Mejia presented her paper “Mind the Gap: Design Thinking and Human-Centered Design for eHealth Applications – Insights from Vulnerable Populations in a Scoping Review.” In it, she examined how human-centered design (HCD) and design thinking (DT) methods are used in the development of eHealth applications for vulnerable populations. Based on a scoping review of 131 studies, she showed that the majority of eHealth tools developed over the last ten years have been aimed at adults, while children, older people, and people with physical, mental, or cognitive impairments are significantly underrepresented, indicating an urgent need for more inclusive development approaches.
