The proposed COALA project aims to intensify and consolidate the recent partnership between four major scientific institutions, Universidad Militar Nueva Granada, Universidad El Bosque and Unicoc in Bogotá and Institute for Medical Informatics and Artificial Intelligence (MIKI) of Kiel University and University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein in Kiel, Germany.
The COALA project emerges from an exercise of identification of opportunities carried out between professors of the four research institutions with the aim of strengthening scientific collaboration between Colombia and Germany. The collaboration focuses on two main themes: Electronic Medical Records (EHR) and interoperability. The strengthening will be done through the implementation of a joint research project.
To this end, the combination of the technical and scientific capabilities of the scientific research groups in the highly relevant fields of healthcare Interoperability and EHR, will unfold opportunities for maximizing positive impact in the healthcare systems of both regions.
COALA aims to combine these synergies to build on a series of deliverables grouped in three core aspects: 1. Knowledge transfer, in the form of lectures, 2. International scientific collaboration, international co-authorship and participation in international conferences, 3. Innovation, through co-creation of prototypes
