The Department for Medical Informatics is dealing with integrating clinical routine data for secondary use (e.g. patient recruitment, research, quality management, process management) in the field of Knowledge Management. Furthermore, text analysis and information retrieval providing structured data from semi- or unstructured free text is part of the knowledge management activities. Therefore, so called support services like terminology management services, ontologies, data dictionaries and so on are implemented.
The aim of knowledge management within MI-KI is the creation and further development of an integrated platform for routine patient care and research through integration of all relevant information. The main focus is on the patients’ informational self-determination concerning the use of his/her data.
