Healthcare Hackathon 2020 at UKSH – MIKI coaches FirstAidKID to victory

As a virtual competition of ideas, the 4th Healthcare Hackathon Kiel took place at the UKSH on 05.06. Hackers, idea providers, professors, doctors, start-ups and sponsors worked hand in hand in various challenges to present their ideas to Health Minister Jens Spahn at the Healthcare Innovation Hub (hih) in Berlin in January 2021.

Many of the teams also received professional support from IT coaches from the Medical Informatics Section. Kfeel Arshad, Anna-Lena Pohl, Jasper Hochmann, Heike Lehmann, Saman Ardalan, Luisa Mejia, Felix Rottmann and Claas Strodthoff provided advice in the fields of cardiology, pharmacology, neurosurgery and vascular surgery.

The winner of the HH was the team FirstAidKID around industrial design student Karlotta Sowinski. Together with paediatrician Denis Schewe, health economist Fabian-Simon Frielitz and MIKI IT coaches Benjamin Kinast and Björn Schreiweis, FirstAidKID was able to convince the audience and expert jury with its app for a child-friendly patient tourney and achieved the top position by a clear margin.

The team now has time to further implement the design and concept until the Healthcare Hackathon Berlin in January 2021.
